Hjellnes Consult was founded in 1946 and is today a leading interdisciplinary engineering and design company in Norway. Together with our subsidiary companies we employ over 200 engineers, and around 90 % of our people are stockholders in the company.

We have over the years served as Project Administrators for large international construction projects. Through our participation in the joint venture Aviaplan AS, we have specialized in the planning, design, and construction of International Airports.

Building & Construction Department
Building Design – Our team of engineers provide holistic skills and an interdisciplinary capability. Drawing on our wide range of expertise, we design buildings by optimizing form and functions in the built and natural environment.
We customize design to our clients’ needs and the individual building performance criteria. We provide consulting for lifecycle performance from concept to construction, through operation, adaptation, retrofitting to final decommissioning and recycling.
We serve several markets in projects from modest to massive scale, and provide clients in both private and public sector with our services. Our Building & Construction Department provide services in areas such as: Civil/-Structural Engineering, Facades & Building physics, Fire safety Engineering, Plumbing & sanitary systems, HVAC, Energy distribution systems, Building services engineering, Electrical Engineering, Lighting Systems, Acoustics, and Project Administration.
Infrastructure & Environment Department
Infrastructure Design – Hjellnes Consult has wide project experience where in-house teams come together to deliver Infrastructure design solutions that are cost-effective, efficient, and delivered in an environment in which risks are managed.
We work with a range of clients, and provide skills and services within areas such as; Highway Engineering, Urban and regional planning, Water supply, Waste treatment, Environmental Engineering, Bridges and Heavy structures.
Although we give priority to in-house interdisciplinary projects, we have on several occasions also joined alliances with other disciplines in other companies. We do not bind ourselves to go along with internal stakeholders at all costs in every project. We search those alliances that have the greatest potential in every given project.
Hjellnes Consult is a member of RIF - the organization for approved consulting companies in Norway, and the Norwegian member association of the global consulting association FIDIC. As an member firm we adhere to the FIDIC Code of Ethics, and satisfy relevant liability insurance coverage according to Norwegian standard contract and standards of competence set by RIF.
